Ean Sableheart

Post by Ean Sableheart on Wed Jun 08, 2016 1:42 am

Name: Ean Sableheart
Nickname(s): Beast of the Black Forest
Age / Apparent Age: 2289(283 excluding seal time)/28
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Allegiance: Basillia
Title: Mercenary
Height & Weight: 5'6 110 lbs.
Hair and Eyes: Ean has short black hair and dark blue eyes.

Physical Description:
Ean is a light skinned male, who has short black hair running over his forehand, and dark blue eyes. He has a lean and thin yet muscular body, coated with scars from injuries received from beatings or combat. Most notably is a deep, thick scar that runs down his back from the left shoulder blade, diagonally downward down to the right side of his waist.  Ean is quite short considering the exceptional amount of abuse he’s able to endure, ranging at only 5 foot 6 inches.

His usual attire consists of a worn grey shirt, and black trousers with a brown belt around his waist. His footwear is a pair of black loafers. This is a signal of his low societal status.

His posture tends to be slightly slouched and relaxed. While when discussing with superiors and others they can easily view this as a sign of his inferiority, it is a huge part of the way he fights, as his form of combat requires him to be very loose, and a relaxed way of going about things is better for his once devastating freeform style of attack.

When he’s angry there’s a glare about him that unsettles those he directs it at. It’s not the glare of a human or a sentient being. Even corrupted who have lost all reasoning hesitate when they see the glare of the blood thirsty animal staring them down.

Who are you?

Personality: If one were to try and properly pin down Ean’s personality and generalize it the best they could come up with is a ‘dignified delinquent’. He’s smart and well spoken, but his posture is terrible, his demeanor can easily become cynical, and he’s got a defiant streak about him that seems impossible to end.

While Ean is human, he gives off a sort of air of dignity to him. He doesn’t talk much, which at first glance makes him seem like the usual, beaten into obedience, human that you see in all parts of the world, but this is false, he’s just quiet and doesn’t speak as much as others. After all, there are plenty of haughty elves that spend so much time wasting air with irrelevant speeches, that somebody has to take a bullet a only speak what needs to be said. Being select and savvy with his words makes him a heavy superior in a conversation with whomever Ean is talking to. He’s great at throwing in insults passively and frequently returns insults and demands from others in the form of moral lectures or sarcasm. Sure this gets him beaten by most but he takes the maiming with a sick grin on his face or a blank face altogether like it doesn’t bother him. It’s as if he no longer feels the pain of tyranny or just gotten used to it and, while partially true, he’s experienced pain that goes well beyond the tearing the flesh so a few more scars doesn't mean much.

In addition to this quietness, Ean’s incredibly knowledgeable about the world, being able to tell you a lot about the past, being a huge part of what happened in the past to begin with. He knows so much about Aesirian ancient history and landmarks its scholarly, which shouldn’t be possible with humans since just getting the ability to read is hard enough. In addition, he’s a jack of all trades of sorts, being an excellent cook, farmer, janitor, babysitter, and plumber, just to name a few tricks he can do.

In the past, Ean was a proven soldier and master of weaponry, however, with his body crippled as it is and 2000 years out of practice, a lot of muscle memory is gone requiring a lot of practice to return to form. The instincts on the other hand are still well intact. Cross him or those he actually respects and you’ll see a horrendously menacing glare in the background and feel the room fill with a sense of blood lust you’d expect from a starving hunting dog. Truly get him angry and that sarcastic Savvy becomes more aggressive and there’s a sense of sadism coming from him, as his remarks become blatantly insulting and daring them to keep pissing him off. His most famed act of defiance from his days of the true empress was calling the most powerful seraphi a ‘glorified pigeon’ and threatening to tear off his wings and shove them up his rectum, although that’s so far in the past its long forgotten.

Positive Qualities:
-Wise: Ean's knowledge of the past and understanding of how the world and reality works is incredible. He can argue both how humanity deserves to stand on an equal footing as all the other races, but can also switch sides and understands how life is unfair and you have to play with the cards you have, and that humanity as a whole is at fault for its current situation. Complaining gets you nowhere and, despite his whining on occasion over how things are difficult, he is actively searching for problems.

-Kind: Ean has a strong sense of compassion and understanding for those suffering, regardless of who they are. He understands that people have problems and tries to avoid giving them more. In some circumstances he'll even help solve these problems.

-Calm: Rarely is Ean bothered by the actions of others. He takes insults and even beatings with little violence and is able to somehow retain the same outlook on life and even backtalk with surprising skill.

-Merciful: Beyond a very select few circumstances, Ean is able to forgive the actions of others, given they understand their wrongdoings and are able to improve themselves, Ean is more than willing to give second chances and even third chances.

-Independent: To this day, Ean has never kneeled or bowed his head before anyone in subservience. Even those of far greater strength than he is have never made Ean grovel before them. This trait allows him to act as the ultimate subordinate, capable of refusing to follow bad orders and do things as he sees fit. He acts as an equal to the one he serves, who hopefully has bewbies.

Negative Qualities:

-Distant: Ean tends to keep a distance from others, regardless of race and avoids getting close to others. He's not in his own time and his loved ones are all dead. Strong feelings of betrayal are also within him which makes it hard for him to associate with others while also making him difficult to read.

-Antagonistic: Ean always seems to be picking fights. Be they mere arguments to minor scuffles to full on brawls he always seems to be ready to tell somebody off or slit their throat. The biggest problem with this is, he's really good at all of the above. Well, he used to be good at fighting, now he's really out of shape and practice.

-Cunning: Ean is smart. Ean knows he is smart. He knows his knowledge can be used to his advantage and takes advantage of others short comings and faults, and isn't above using underhanded tactics to win a battle.

-Repugnant: Perhaps the word is exceedingly strong in Ean's case but Ean doesn't exactly radiate charisma. He's lazy, crude, obnoxious, antagonistic, and generally avoids to much association and attachment to others. Makes him seem like another revolting human.

Likes:

-Reading: It's less the act of reading and more the acquisition of information that Ean enjoys. Readings just the most common way of doing it and there's less rambling than when someones explaining it to you, or at the very least you can skip over those parts. It's one of the few traits Ean got from Mystus in all his years with the quack.

-Women: He's a dirty minded pervert who likes large bonkers and big booty. Deal with it.

-Moonlight: The full moon at night is such a beautiful sight isn't? Never before has Ean thought something was more beautiful.

Dislikes:

-noblemen: It's more their haughty attitude than it is there status but Ean hates when people try and act superior. It's redundant. Even in the circumstance of humanity, whose life span is a mere 10ths of all the other races, we were all made from dust and to dust we shall return.

-Bigotry: Ean, quite naturally, hates those who view others as weak for trivial matters such as race or lineage. It's such a small and irrelevant piece of information that you can't define a person like that. It's wrong and as a human, Ean has dealt with it regularly and always takes the opportunity to tell off a bigot whenever he gets it.

-Sour Food: Sour is a much less favorable taste to bitterness. Both bite at your tongue but sour food does so in a much less pleasant manner, how can one seriously enjoy food like this.

History:

Chapter one: Human weaponization

Ean was born to the parents of slaves in an Anima nation that is no more now called, Urarus. The parents never actually got a chance to name Ean. His mother died in labor and his father was devoured due to famine in the region. It's a miracle Ean wasn't eaten himself but it seemed the anima had other uses for the infant.

The Anima were trying to develop stronger humans that they could use as super soldiers, or living weapons. Based on their hypothesis, younger humans were more likely to take to the treatment, so Ean, being an infant, was immediately turned into a lab rat from birth, and transferred to a facility in the woods to keep the heathen creatures out of society, should they succeed.

Ean was pumped with drugs and put through excruciating pains, usually just to see if this worked. He didn't have any rights and was a lesser being so there was no need to care for his feelings. Ean was given just enough food and water to keep him alive for the most part. There was a famine so they couldn't just casually feed their test subjects when they could always get more. This resulted in a never ending amount of scars and torment, putting Ean in state of fear once he was old enough to feel actual sentience.

Eventually though, there came a time when things shattered. Finally something worked, perhaps it was a combination of what was currently raging through his blood stream and what they just went in but it worked. Simultaneously however, Ean went berserk, and it was far more effective then they thought. Black aura rampaged through the facility, destroying everything in its path. It emanated from Ean as the child screamed with rage and fear, destroying everything without mercy.

When the dust settled, the facility he was in was rubble, the aura was gone but Ean still felt it in him. He was 15 years old and knew nothing, somehow surviving torment and abuse for that entire time. Ean knew nothing of the world but pain, hate, fear. He could understand speech but could only speak poorly, he could not read or write, he could not turn to anybody, he truly had nothing but himself and this power dwelling inside him.

He looked up to the sky to see a full moon in all of its beauty, leading an army of stars. To this day, he finds it to be the most beautiful site he ever saw.

Chapter 2: Mystus Sableheart
Ean was able to run off and hide before any Anima soldiers were able to pursue him. They never really got a chance to find him, another small neighboring nation conquered them well before they had a chance. Ean's presence was felt however. Ean killed anything that moved to close to him in a form of self-defense. He was viewed in the area as a monster and corrupted. He would take anything of value the Anima had as well. Eventually, one would escape and everyone would be aware there was a monster human who could use magic hiding in their forest.

This naturally prompted the standing army to go on a man hunt. Ean was now wanted, dead or alive. Ean would stay alive however and many would end up dead to his black aura. One creature would find him though. This creature did not have furry ears like the Anima. He had long pointy ears on the side of his head as well as dark skin and a strange mannerism. He walked up to Ean, stating he was out searching for a monster and all he found was a 'cute child'. Ean naturally attacked but unlike the others, this one deflected his attacks with ease and pushed Ean back without moving. Ean faced the man with bared teeth and snarl and they eyes of a wild animal. The person let out a chuckle before introducing himself as Mystus Sableheart. Mystus then offered a hand to Ean and suggested that he follow him, that he could teach Ean how to properly utilize this power he had and called it fascinating.

Ean really doesn't know why, but he followed. The man wasn't charismatic, he didn't have an air of brilliance about him, he had an air about him that made Ean wary of him but none the less he followed. A decision he would come to regret and cherish at the same time.

Mystus immediately gave Ean a name, realizing Ean didn't have one. Ean was the name he chose. He said it was a name that he noticed in some human texts from a long time ago and just decided a human should have a human name. He also gave him his surname and called Ean his child. Ean was merely perplexed and confused at this point. Unfortunately he was already to far in, and Mystus had driven off some Anima pursuing him, so he had given Ean proof he was on his side.

Mystus took Ean to his home first, which was a small, rundown shack in the southern most parts of the world. Surrounding it was a thick wood quite similar to the wood he had been living in the past few weeks. Ean was lucky to take shelter in an old burrow an animal made long ago. The concept of a house was a little new to him.

Once Ean was settled in Mystus immediately went to teaching Ean all manner of studies. Mystus taught Ean how to speak properly and how to write. He also taught Ean math and complex magic theory, swordplay, as well as the history of Aesiria and his own race, at least the parts Mystus knew. In return, Ean went with Mystus on his ridiculous adventures.

Mystus claimed to be a researcher but his job was more like him being a 'jack-of-all-trades'. Mostly it was dealing with bandits and repairing nearby towns. Ean normally did most of the harder work because he was the human  A few times a year they went outside the usual area so Mystus could 'find something interesting' as he put it, you know, actual research. The rest of the time he was just trying to fund his campaigns.

These campaigns more often than not resulted in nothing, although Mystus never showed concern for that. When they resulted in more than nothing, the results were bordering on the ridiculous. Ean and Mystus were stuck dealing with Zombie Armies, dragons, corrupted seraphs, spatial tears, and even a corrupted Baal to name a few. Each experience made Ean stronger and more precise a fighter and although Ean stuck around with the lunatic, he never did shake the feeling of mistrust he felt when around the dark elf.

The biggest campaign he could probably remember was their trip to the isle of the fae. There, they were guided by a force and seperated. Ean was guided by the forest, by Yggdrasil. Yggdrasil communicated to Ean about the history of this world and about the Baal. Ean's concerns about Mystus was confirmed by Yggdrasil though. Mystus was dangerous. More dangerous than Ean thought. Mystus Sableheart, was a Baal.

Chapter 3: The True Empress

Ean didn't leave Mystus' side after learning this discovery. He didn't have a chance. Ean may have been stronger but he had no chance against something that could oppose a God. Mystus had another campaign immediately after they left. They headed to Luciana, capital of the world. Upon arrival, Mystus was greeted by guards and almost immediately before he could get a word in, by the empress herself.

There was some shock when Mystus introduced Ean as his son, like he always did and there always was. Ean didn't like this though. There was a plan, like there always was. Only this time Ean knew that there was an underlying motive beyond just being a quack researcher.

What happened after is in the history books. Mystus proposed the equality of humans and Ean proved the worth of humans by standing on equal footing of the strongest Draconi, Ragnarok. The rest is a false history however, spun by the lies. After Mystus' disappearance, things seemed to be progressing well for human equality. There was a plan to stop this however in the under reaches of leadership.

Ean was approached one day by a well respected member of the nobles, telling Ean that the empress requested his presence. Ean obliged and headed forth. When Ean arrived, the found the empress dead on the floor in a pool of blood and rushed to try and resuscitate her. It failed. Others arrived to find Ean, a human, over the dead body of their savior. There bigotry got the best of them and they assumed Ean's guilt. Ean tried to plead innocence but it fell on deaf ears and it was all he could do to for himself out and escape. It seemed the only one who was willing to listen to him was the fairy Tiki.

Ean ran across the world for five years, fighting off attacks from the sages as he fended them off. Eventually his luck would run out, and he would be cornered in a swamp. Despite a valiant effort and a savage battle between Ean and all five sages, the Sages were able to seal him away, locking him up for the next 2000 years.

Chapter 4: A new beginning
Ean's slumber also brought about the slumber of the monstrous power inside of him. He slept for 2000 years before the seal's power began to wear thin. When it shattered, Ean awoke as if it were just a moment ago. It was as if the next day had passed. Weak and thin, Ean meandered around, searching for food and information. He picked up some berries and ate a rat corpses to fill his half dead body before deciding to learn more about the current situation and roamed around, trying to stay as anonymous as possible.

He discovered the empire had dissolved considerably, and now 4 nations vied for power. He was in a small nation known as Basillia, ruled by the dark elves. It seemed to be the best treating of humans. Although still crappy, humans got paid, if almost nothing. They could live at least slightly independent lives. Ean decided to make this his home, and after recovering his health over a few years, he built a small shack in the swamp he was sealed in. If anyone approached the place he offered his services to deal with a number of things from cleaning gutters to dealing with bandits to simple servant labor.

His magic has yet to awaken after a few years, but its there. Ean must be patient, and wait for an opportunity to gain his strength. Ean knew Mystus knew exactly what would happen if he did that. He wanted to dissolve the Aesirian empire. For what purpose? Ean didn't know. Ean knew that a Baal wouldn't die so easily, especially not Mystus. If Mystus was alive Ean was going to kill him. In order to do that, he needed to awaken the power that he once used to fight dragons, corrupted, and sages. Until then, he had to make a living somehow.
